The FC Crystallizer (Forced Circulation Crystallizer) is a versatile, robust, and widely adopted continuous crystallization system suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and environmental industries. Its optimized design ensures efficient evaporative crystallization for high-viscosity and scaling-prone materials, with capacities ranging from lab-scale (2-foot diameter) to industrial units (>40-foot diameter). Working Principle

1. Components & Operation

  • Main Structure: Comprises a crystallizer vessel, circulation pump, heat exchanger, and interconnecting piping.

  • Circulation System: Slurry is pumped from the bottom cone through a heat exchanger (or omitted in flash-cooling designs) and returned via a draft tube/tangential inlet. High recirculation rates (≥3 m/s) prevent scaling and ensure uniform heat transfer.

  • Evaporation Control: Steam flow and vacuum pressure regulate evaporation rates, maintaining vapor velocity ≤1.5 m/s to minimize droplet entrainment.

2. Flash Cooling Design

  • Eliminates heat exchangers for scaling-sensitive materials, using direct vaporization to reduce tube fouling risks.

3. Operational Stability

  • Precise control of supersaturation, superheating, and circulation rates minimizes agglomeration and equipment downtime.
